FOOD & DRINK EXPO POSTPONED

THE UK FOOD SHOWS 30TH MARCH – 1ST APRIL 2020 AT NEC POSTPONED DUE TO CORONAVIRUS

You may recall 2 years ago LunchMate had a stand at the Food & Drink Expo at NEC Birmingham. This huge event occurs only once every 2 years. It was due to take place this year from 30th March through to 1st April.

Sadly, while we were preparing our stand for the show, William Reed Group made the following announcement:

In light of the ongoing COVID-19 health situation, we have taken the difficult decision to postpone the NEC UK Food Shows.

This decision has not been taken lightly. We have been following Government and WHO advice to continue as planned however it is now more likely that under the Government’s ‘Delay’ phase large scale events will be prohibited before the end of March.

They have secured new dates for the show at NEC:

Food & Drink Expo, Farm Shop & Deli Show and National Convenience Show will now take place at the NEC on the 7th – 9th September 2020.

We will post more information nearer the date.

Since I published this article, there has been another announcement from William Reed Group – the show has been postponed once more:
    IMPORTANT INFORMATION

THE UK FOOD SHOWS AT THE NEC POSTPONED UNTIL APRIL 2021
It is only a few short weeks ago that I wrote to you to postpone the UK Food Shows from April to September but as you are aware there is still no certainty about how we will emerge from the current lockdown.
So following much discussion with our partners and picking up on the sentiment in the markets and communities we serve I now feel that it is in the best interests of all to further postpone Food & Drink Expo, Farm Shop & Deli Show and National Convenience Show until 12 – 14 April 2021 when we can again reunite at the NEC to deliver the UK’s biggest and best attended trade show. I am hopeful this will also be a clear rallying point for the food and drink sectors to get together after this disastrous and challenging time where we can share inspiration, learning and demonstrate some of the amazing innovation that continues to be the bedrock of the sector.
By acting now, we aim to remove the uncertainty and allow you to plan as effectively as possible whilst minimising your associated costs. We would like to thank our exhibitors, visitors, speakers, partners and suppliers for their continued support and patience during this challenging time.

Sadly, the show has been postponed once again. I just received the following e-mail from show organisers, William Reed Group:

FDE2021: Important Information – Event postponed
THE UK FOOD & DRINK SHOWS AT THE NEC POSTPONED
Following the PM’s announcement last night regarding lockdown and the rollout of the vaccine, we are looking to move the dates of Food & Drink Expo, Farm Shop & Deli Show, National Convenience Show, Foodex, The Ingredients Show and The Forecourt Show to July 2021.

We are currently in negotiations with the NEC for dates in July and will get back to you as soon as possible.

We would like to thank for your continued support and patience during this time.

    In the meantime, stay safe.
